Se eu fosse Voce (If I were you)
Impossible exchanges of a body by another is a subject that every now and then someone decides to put in theaters. A child said "I Want To Be Big" and turned adult in the body of Tom Hanks (Big, Penny Marshal, 1988). Father has turned into son in Vice Verse (Brian Gilbert, 1988) and mother and daughter also reversed their roles in Freaky Friday (Mark Walters, 2003). Now the approach is upon husband and wife.
Gloria Pires is Helena, a mother of family, regent of a child choir and therefore a very refined woman; she is the wife of Claudio, played by Tony Ramos, a stressed and workaholic owner of an advertisement company. Claudio hates Helena's mother (Gloria Menezes) and does not have much of a dialogue with his daughter Bia (Lara Robinson). Helena feels a little lost in the middle of all this, being the only bridge between the husband, the mother and the daughter. Claudio by his turn feels the arms carrying the family, both financially and emotionally. The fight is on! The couple cannot understand each other anymore, and on a magic night in which the first three planets align, the couple says a few phrases at the same time and end up switching bodies.
Neither of the actors travesty of man or woman. Tony starts to interpret Helena and Gloria is now Claudio. While the couple strives to succeed in the most basic daily chores trapped in the wrong bodies, the audience has a lot of fun.
Every joke is part of the everyday married life. There are small details that no one can imagine the opposite sex doing, like a man in the body of a woman trying to keep under jumps or getting 'his' period; and a woman in a man's body trying to pee standing up and telling dirty jokes.
The actors Tony Ramos and Gloria Pires practically take the movie in the back, great actors in a memorable interpretation. The subtle direction of Daniel Filho also gains great merit in the film. Although it is a romantic comedy, the film tries to avoid the usual cliches. It is innovative. It is a must-see.
